Position Location:Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare - Northfield, OhioSalary Information:$40.47 - $56.76 per hour ($84,178 - $118,061 per year)Work Hours: 8:00am - 4:30am; Flexible hours to meet operational needTo learn more about our agency, please visit our website at www.mha.ohio.govJob Duties:Serves as a health care provider, providing primary psychiatric care in coordination with interdisciplinary health care & mental health team; creates & implements patient care plans & performs advanced nursing duties within boundaries of licensure: monitors progress of patients & intervenes in the course of acute & psychiatric illness; completes comprehensive psychiatric exam & dictates findings, including assessments for suicidality & homicidality; evaluates necessity for further psychiatric testing or referral to appropriate specialist; analyzes relevant data & prescribes appropriate medications; dictates discharge narrative summaries; work in collaboration with supervising psychiatrist as required & outlined by Ohio law; maintains a caseload of hospitalized patients as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer; analyzes & documents findings & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute & chronically psychiatric ill patients; completes discharge planning/follow-up care for patients with chronic care &/or medical issues; evaluates necessity for referral consultations inside or outside the regional psychiatric hospital; orders & reviews results of laboratory, x-ray & other diagnostic testing; maintains required medical records: documents medical information gathered during patient interviews according to agency & hospital guidelines, policies, protocols, bi-laws & agency professionally accredited standards; documents assessments & diagnostic impression including treatment plans & follow up parameters; cooperates with hospital peer review & medical quality oversight; provides clinical direction to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses & other caregivers; develops & implements care plans; establishes & maintains rapport with patients & families (e.g., assesses teaching needs of patients, reinforces information taught by physician, answers questions &/or directs patient back to physician, documents teaching); provides health guidance for patients & families; demonstrates awareness of legal aspects of nursing related to the nurse practitioner; nurse practice act & accepted standards; directs clinical tasks as needed & interprets written policies & procedures; provides in-service & continuing education to direct care staff; serves as resource person to other entities (e.g., infection control, education & training office); confers with other health care providers to provide & ensure delivery of quality patient care; enforces & implements established policies & procedures; reports & records pertinent information regarding total patient care; supervises assigned staff.Develops &/or assists others in development of & implements & evaluates patient/family/ staff educational programs & learning tools (e.g., confers with appropriate resource personnel to identify training needs; serves as resource person for patient/families/staff utilizing areas of clinical expertise; assists nursing personnel in preparation & presentation of patient-centered conferences); advises patients & families regarding health maintenance; identifies health risk factors; modifies management plan through utilization of information gathered during history & physical consultation, diagnostic work-up & other relevant resources; assists nursing personnel & other health care professionals in treatment plan; coordinates & conducts surveys to ascertain potential health problem areas & utilizes data gathered in development of plans for activities (i.e., including planning new approaches to care).Develops & evaluates standards for nursing practice; supports, participates & collaborates in agency programs & activities; establishes goals & objectives & participates in continuous quality improvement measures; serves on various nursing, medical & agency committees; attends staff meetings; attends in-service &/or other continuing education courses relative to growth & development as a nurse practitioner, plans & selects methods to share new knowledge with appropriate staff; acts as consultant to treatment teams: meets with other clinical staff regarding matters involving nursing care practice, designs, evaluates & implements therapeutic interventions; remains abreast of timely changes & developments; utilize OhioMHAS approved office software, approved intranet & internet resources & information systems in an appropriate network related manner as specified in the NBH Personal Computer usage guidelines for employees.What's in it for you:At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans.
