Collaborating Physician: Christopher J. DiMaio, MD, AGAF, FASGE,

Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center and system co-chair of Digestive Diseases. He previously was the director of interventional endoscopy for the Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. DiMaio is a nationally recognized expert who cares for patients with complex pancreatic and biliary diseases, pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, endoscopic management of benign and malignant obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, and management of post-operative complications such as fistulas, leaks, and strictures. A large focus of Dr. DiMaio's practice is devoted to management of patients with both benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas. Dr. DiMaio offers cutting edge techniques and technology for his patients and is committed to working closely with his patient's local physicians thus allowing for seamless and coordinated care.

Job Details: Essential Functions
  • Within scope of practice, perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams and interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures to assist in formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures and studies.
  • Provide needed procedures, including assisting in surgery and continually assess patients needs and conduct appropriate follow up.
  • Performing procedures, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Order, prescribe and dispense medication and durable goods as allowed by state and within scope of practice.
  • Maintain required records and writes progress notes on patient charts as to status, treatments and procedures.
  • Counsel the patient as to preventative care, medical problems, exercise, and the use of prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Science, Masters preferred in an AMA approved PA or NP program
    • NYS Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License
    • PA or NP Board Certification
    • BLS and ACLS certification
    Skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patients needs. (Required)
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills (Required)
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, other healthcare staff, and other departments (Required)
    • Personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth, and collaborating with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality (Required)
    • Basic computer skills (Required)
