Role: CPD Technician Location: Philadelphia, PA, 19104 Long Term Contract Job Summary: The CPD Technician will provide on-site support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related medical devices and equipment. The role includes ensuring the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and inventory management of surgical instruments and reusable supplies in accordance with hospital policies, departmental procedures, and industry standards.
Job Responsibilities: Essential Functions - Scope Reprocessing and Maintenance (80%)
- Reprocess flexible endoscopes following manufacturer's instructions and industry standards (AAMI, SGNA, AORN, CDC).
- Maintain inventory of endoscopic and reprocessing equipment and supplies.
- Perform safety checks to ensure proper equipment functionality.
- Document compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopes and related instruments as per guidelines.
- Ensure optimal functionality of equipment and coordinate repairs when needed.
- Understand and apply departmental policies, procedures, and AAMI standards.
- Instrument and Supply Processing (20%)
- Process and assemble medical supplies, equipment, and instruments with a productivity average of at least 80%.
- Operate automated washers, cart washers, ultrasonic washers, endoscope reprocessors, and sterilizers safely and efficiently.
- Transport and sort soiled medical instruments according to protocols.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, defects, and functionality before packaging.
- Maintain accuracy in instrument tray preparation and documentation.
- Use SPM Instrument Tracking System for assignments.
- Ensure all items are sterilized or disinfected using the appropriate modality and document the process.
- Distribute sterilized items while maintaining their integrity.
- Prepare and meet patient-specific case cart requirements.
- Communicate effectively regarding workflow, equipment, safety, and improvement opportunities.
Skills - Basic knowledge of medical nutrition therapy in pediatric patients.
- Understanding of nutrient analysis and software tools.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations (fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.).
- Computer literacy and proficiency.
Work Experience - Experience with scope reprocessing - Required
- At least 2 years of experience in scope reprocessing or central supply/OR processing - Preferred
Qualifications: Education - High School Diploma or GED - Required
Licenses/Certifications - Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) - Required within 18 months
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - HSPA - Preferred
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - HSPA - Preferred Skills : Sterile Processing ,Endoscope Reprocessor,Distribution Technician
