Northern Michigan has an abundance of year-round activities for all. Our community offers great fishing, beautiful parks and beaches and is home to the largest inland lake in Michigan! Exploring Northern Michigan will provide the opportunity to explore wonderful parks, great public beaches which include swimming, playground equipment, barbecues and pavilions. From fishing to disc golf, our local parks are sure to provide fun for all. Additionally, the area provides plenty of hiking and nature trails, and over 200 miles of ORV trails. The position is available in the Roscommon, MI Schools. Nestled in Roscommon County, the Village of Roscommon boasts abundant recreational opportunities. It is encircled by the natural splendor of Higgins Lake, the Au Sable River, and the Huron National Forest. These locations offer a variety of outdoor activities including fishing, boating, hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling, in addition to cultural events and festivals. Our organization was founded by concerned residents in the early 1970s to address the severe shortage of primary care in our area. We are still run by a local volunteer board of directors, helping to ensure that our services meet the community's needs. General Summary of Duties: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides a full range of pediatric medical services from general preventative care to ongoing acute and chronic illness management in a School Based Health Center (SBHC) environment. The APP delivers primary health care to patients in a school based setting. Incumbent will be responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of common and chronic illnesses, planning of periodic health assessments, vaccines, screenings, promoting optimal health and preventative care. Additional responsibilities include community referrals and regulatory compliance documentation. This is a part time position, 24 hours per week. Some on call responsibilities in a rotation with other SBHC providers. Supervision Received: Reports directly to the SBHC Medical Director Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires working under stress. Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.   • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of professional medical practice and the ability to give and evaluate patient care.
    • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
    • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
    • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care.
    • Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings.
    • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence.
    • Skill in developing and maintaining quality services and quality improvement program.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, school staff, and the public.
    • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
    • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate clearly.
Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
Experience:
  • New graduates welcome.
License:
  • Current state license to practice.
  • DEA and state controlled substances licenses also required (as applicable).
