What we need
Symbotic is seeking an Advanced Software Engineer to join our Industrial Software Team within ourHardware R&D organization. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a large suite of automation tools that are critical to Symbotic's scaling efforts. You will play a hands-on role developing new features and new tools. These tools run the gamut from things like PLC code generation, PLC transpiler, to enabling a rich set of reports of the status of the installation and commissioning of our systems.

The Industrial Software team is part of the Hardware R&D organization and is committed to developing tools and automation that enable Symbotic to scale and meet its ambitious installation and commissioning goals. We work closely with the Industrial Controls team to create solutions that effectively automate engineering tasks currently performed manually. The Hardware R&D organization is comprised of leaders in warehouse robotics, innovating within a rigorous R&D context. Our mission is to develop state-of-the-art robotic solutions that revolutionize efficiency and functionality in warehouse operations.
What you'll do
Develop, deploy and maintain a suite of C# tools that enable higher and higher levels of automation in the Install, Manufacturing, Commissioning and Testing workstreams.
Enhance existing software tools around PLC code generation, including a PLC->C# Transpiler
Play a hands-on role as part of an engineering team that works to design, develop, review and test new functionality.
Collaborate with other development teams, project managers and product managers to breakdown requirements, design solutions and execute on new business requirements.
Demonstrate passion about building high quality software that addresses customer needs, love solving problems and facing new challenges.
Be a proactive communicator who enjoys working closely with creative and technical peers.
Work in a dynamic Agile/Scrum based environment.
Up to 10% travel may be required.
What you'll need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
5+ years professional experience developing software applications.
3+ years of experience with data/SQL platforms including traditional relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL).
Object oriented design and programing concepts, C# strongly preferred, Java preferred. Asp.net also preferred.
Source code version control, unit testing, design and defect tracking tools.
Experience with multi-threading, multiprocessing, and SW/HW integration.
Self-motivated, with an ability to learn quickly and independently, and work in a dynamic agile environment with cross functional and remote teams.
Our Environment
Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
