Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred. Need to have experience with Java or C++. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As an Advanced Software Engineer, youll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for Research and development of cybersecurity software for the US Navy. This team is responsible for software development and integration of systems supporting the cybersecurity posture of the US Navy. We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:
- Design and architect new software components in Java, C, C++, and Python to meet program needs
- Lead small group of developers via managing day-to-days tasks, assigning deadlines, and leading code reviews
- Organize/coordinate/lead an agile Scrum team with two-week sprints
- Key personnel to communicate technical and programmatic issues to management
- Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies for adoption by the Navy Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis
- Integrate COTS and GOTS tools, including open source products and API-driven integration efforts
- Build multi-tier software solutions, including database design and integration
What sets you apart:
- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle, including configuration management, good coding practices, and experience in writing, testing, and deploying production-quality software
- Software development experience using Java (JAVAFX), Spring, C/C++, Python, and other languages in a Linux environment
- Experienced in leading small Software Development team
- Ability to manage day-to-day tasking for a small group of developers
- Experienced in DevOps/Agile methodologies Experience using Linux, preferably Red Hat or derivatives
- Knowledge of containerization technologies on Linux OS (Docker, Podman, k8s, RKE2) Familiarity with hypervisor based virtualization
- Experience with open source software and custom software, as well as integration between software applications using middle tier integration and data-driven models
- Experience in cybersecurity best practices Strong written and oral communication skills
- Technical problem-solving ability for large and complex software systems

Workplace Options: This position is mostly on-site with Hybrid/Flex options available. While on-site, you will be a part of the General Dynamics Mission Systems Manassas office.

Combined Salary Range USD $118,272.00 - USD $131,208.00 /Yr.
