SUMMARYThe Development Associate supports the Director of Advancement and External Affairs and the goals of the Advancement Office. The Development Associate will focus effort in three core areas: database management, special events and fundraising efforts. As such, the Development Associate will manage development operations, which includes oversight of databases, gift administration, and the prospect management system. The Development Associate will also help coordinate and execute all advancement events at Congressional School and some Congressional School Parent Organization (CSPO) events. The Development Associate will assist in the creation and implementation of fundraising efforts such as The Congressional Fund and the Gala. The Development Associate must be organized, detail-oriented, creative, motivated and flexible, be responsive and open to change, and work collaboratively with his/her colleagues in the Advancement Office and throughout the Congressional School community.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSpecial Events
- Manage the Gala from start to finish by overseeing the auctions (online, silent and live), communications, coordinating volunteers and seeking donors.
- Plan and execute Advancement events.
- Support the CSPO Leadership Team on parent outreach and community events.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers at Congressional School.
Fundraising and Database Management
- Manage the production of reports for the Director of Advancement and External Affairs, including Advancement Committee reports, Board of Trustee reports and reports for the Head of School.
- Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications with the annual donor acknowledgment lists..
- Prepare prospect lists, including a list of major donors, and compile research on each prospect.
- Engage in strategy meetings around calendar of events, prospects, appeals and stewardship.
- Develop a comprehensive stewardship plan for major donors.
