Howard County Recreation and Parks is seeking part-time Adventure & Outdoor Recreation Program Specialists to teach adventure and outdoor-based programs (ex. Archery, Fishing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Indoor/Outdoor Rock climbing, etc.) Preferred applicants have some previous experience with leading outdoor adventure activities, teaching outdoor activities, flexibility, patience and a positive attitude. The instructor will perform instruction, coordination and supervision of duties in these highly specialized skill areas for the adventure and outdoors unit. This is the perfect part time job for someone who has a flexible schedule and looking for some extra income. Advanced skill training will be provided.This is a part time position, evening and weekend hours (time varies) with a very flexible schedule. Classes are held at Howard County Recreation and Park facilities. Reliable transportation is important. RATE OF PAY: Salary commensurate with experience and certification(s)Contingent:Level I - Minimum Wage to - $18.00 (Paraprofessional)Level II - $18.00 - $22.00 (Paraprofessional)Level III - $20.00 - $32.00 (Professional) MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Salary commensurate with experience and certification (s).Level I: Includes experience and specialized education and training or certification in skill area.Level II: Includes two (2) years of professional experience and specialized education and training in specialized field or college graduate with two (2) years of experience. Level III: Includes three (3) years of professional experience and specialized education and training in specialized field or college graduate with three (3) years experience.Applicant must possess appropriate certifications when applicable to position vacancy.
