We build relationships with our students and partner with departments across campus to ensure that students have the answers they need.In the Bryan School of Business & Economics, we create and disseminate knowledge about the theory and practice of business. Our work produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers who have a global perspective, an innovative mindset, a broad understanding of sustainability, and a commitment to improve the organizations in which they work and the communities in which they live.Position SummaryThis Academic Advisor position will report to the Director of Undergraduate Student Services in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The primary areas of responsibility will be to serve as an Academic Advisor for assigned undergraduate majors; to plan, coordinate and participate in student services activities as assigned.Academic Advising:* Assist undergraduate students assigned to the position, to include but not limited to course planning/selection, academic goal setting and development.* Assist with freshman and transfer new student orientations as well as participate in advising and registration sessions for returning and readmitted students each semester.* Participate in recruitment activities including weekly prospective student meetings, evening recruitment commitments and Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) sessions.* Plan, coordinate, and assess current advising models to make recommendations on procedures, and practices to improve student services.* Utilize technology to communicate with students in the most effective ways.Employee attributes needed for success in this role:* Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities or projects in a fast-paced work environment* Willingness to embrace innovative advising practices using technologies.* Demonstrated ability to participate in a team environment and to make a positive contribution toward the mission and vision of the organization.* Adept at interacting with others in a professional and collaborative manner.* Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage sizeable projects, delegating when appropriate.* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.* Excellent oral and written communication skills.Minimum Qualifications* Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution and minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to student success initiatives in a higher education setting.* Proven experience working with diverse populations in a higher education setting.* Experience working within the field of academic advising or in developing and implementing services/initiatives to support college student transition, success, and retention.Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications* Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university* Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Ellucian BANNER), Canva, WordPress, and Canvas.Special Instructions to ApplicantsFor consideration, candidates should upload:* Cover letter, not to exceed one page, detailing qualifications as they relate to this position.* Resume* List of referencesApplicants are required to upload a list of references of at least three (3) professional references that includes:* Name* Company Name* Type of reference (Professional, Supervisor, Colleague, Academic or Personal).
