RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions -
* Provide academic advising services in all HutchCC/CTE academic program areas through the Newton Center and area high schools, utilizing multiple delivery systems including virtual, text, call chat, face to face, and/or email.
* Deliver onsite advising services at area high schools supported through the Early College program.
* Facilitate a seamless transition to college systems including career and transfer services, student access portal, and degree plans.
* Provide information about HutchCC and its academic programs and services to potential and current students.
* Develop intervention programming and implement retention procedures to address irregular attendance, lack of resources, and other concerns.
* Maintain resource materials related to advising and career counseling, including maintaining and expanding Newton Center annualized course schedule and assisting with building semester schedules.
* Verify student placements and enrollments including checking that all pre-requisites are met.
* Initiate proactive advising methodology, update memos after advising and follow-up with scheduling placement testing, financial aid and other appointments.
* Assist with Graduation Applications, Financial and Academic Appeal Forms, and Applications for Programs within HutchCC (Allied Health).
* Serve on HutchCC committees and/or task forces as assigned.
* Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the requirements of the position.
* Maintain flexible hours to assist with the first week of classes each semester, student appreciation, enrollment night, and evening advising hours.
* Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices, including maintaining confidentiality and appropriate documentation.
Secondary -
* Participate as a member of the Outreach Center Team.
* Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Outreach with input from the Coordinator of Advising & Career Development.
* Travel to other HutchCC locations, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or a related field preferred.
* Experience working with students in an area of human services is preferred.
* Experience or training in testing and measurements and academic advising is preferred.
* Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, and others.
* Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software, is preferred.
* Complete and maintain HutchCC Academic Advising certification.
* Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time; excellent verbal, written and listening skills; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer, and to operate additional office equipment; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; attentive to detail, accurately follow written and verbal instructions, work independently; sedentary/indoor work environment with a substantial amount of keyboarding required

HutchCC CSA Job Description Addendum:
* Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ( Clery Act ) by:
* Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
* Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues;
* Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
* Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance; and
* Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
* A professional counselor, as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community, may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselor's license or certification.
SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt. This position is located at the Newton/Harvey County Site.
