ABOUT CONSEJO COUNSELING AND REFERRAL SERVICE Consejo Counseling and Referral Service is an award-winning agency that has provided behavioral mental health services to the Latinomunity in the state of Washington for almost four decades. Our mission is to provide behavioral health services, substance use treatment, housing, as well as domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy-based counseling to individuals and families. We use an interdependent treatment model for clients to experience acceptance, emotional security, and growth development while learning new skills to establish a higher quality of life. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Domestic Violence Advocate ing to the Domestic Violence Manager, the Advocate Provides direct client services and support for the agency's domestic violence programs in a manner which ensures safety planning, needs assessments and intervention for victims of domestic violence. Ensure services are provided in a holistic, culturally and linguistically sensitive manner, which promotes the dignity, respect, safety and maximum optimal functioning of the individual. Advocate will provide Latinx survivors with education and assistance about available resources; education about the legal rights of both citizens and non-citizens;munity and legal advocacy; and support groups. Advocate will design new Women's Wellness support group. Advocate will work directly with first responders to help them understand the background and culture of Latinx immigrants from a variety of Latin American countries. Advocate will conduct public awareness activities for the greater Seattlemunity and Latinx survivors. Provide Community Advocacy Services to domestic violence survivors and their children. Provide Individual support including Crisis services, safety planning and individual and group support. Assist clients in locating and accessingmunity resources. Assist survivors filing police reports. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field or AA plus 2 years' experience Years of domestic violence work professional experience will be count toward educational requirements. Proficient in speaking, reading and writing both English and Spanish Proficient in Microsoft Office Access to reliable transportation, a valid Washington State Driver's license and car insurance are required. Ability to work andmunicate and navigate with Law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Lifting requirements up to 25lbs Other duties as assigned. WORK SCHEDULE This Temporary Domestic Violence Advocate works a typical schedule of 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday. SALARY $18.99 - $23.56 hr. depending on qualifications and experience.
