Your new role - You will work alongside survivors of domestic violence with a focus on our target population, providing housing-specific advocacy, supporting survivors to navigate a variety of barriers, and securing and maintaining safe and stable housing. You will work on a small team where your opinion is valued and will help shape the delivery of services. STATUS: SALARY: HOURS: SUPERVISOR: Who are we looking for? Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing Strong computer software skills Knowledge of underlying issues impacting the intersection of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness. Knowledge of local housing, community, and social service resources (including emergency resources and other resources related to food, health care, housing, homelessness, and eviction). Ability to use professional boundaries with families and coworkers, and appropriately handle sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols. What you will do as a Housing Advocate In-Home Family Visits (35%) Preparation, Follow-up, Documentation, and Travel (50%) Supervision, training, and meetings (15%) Work with survivors, co-workers, supervisor, community partners, and all other relevant stakeholders in a manner that is consistent with, and promotes, Bradley Angle's Ethical Commitments, Bradley Angle Organizational Values, and trauma-informed care. Comply with Bradley Angle policies and procedures. Provides direct outreach, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, housing advocacy (SSA's), and related support services to African American survivors of domestic and sexual violence who are experiencing homelessness, utilizing a housing first approach. Assesses domestic and sexual violence participant needs/strengths to develop a service plan and identifies supportive services with appropriate action steps. Apply knowledge of Fair Housing and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) protections and/or landlord-tenant laws. Builds and maintains relationships with landlords, public housing authorities, and community programs in the community that will enhance and strengthen housing resources available to survivors. Provide support services to survivors receiving housing assistance, manage a caseload of 12-16 households, and conduct regularly scheduled home visits. Provides ongoing support to families, including assisting with connecting them with necessary services; job readiness, life skills development, and securing childcare. Attends weekly team meetings to review case files, discuss progress and challenges, and coordinate services with other team members. Maintains accurate, thorough, and up-to-date documentation of all participant interactions and services provided, and monitors all expenditures, including participant assistance and supplies. Such activities require adherence to federal, state, and local laws and contract requirements while working within multiple agency systems. Attends and participates in training, meetings, and other professional development opportunities as required to maintain current knowledge and skills related to housing, homelessness, and domestic and sexual violence issues. Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters. Facilitate educational/support groups for survivors and training for other providers and the community. Qualifications and Requirements Ability to support organization and program-specific mission and goals. Minimum of two years of experience in social services, community outreach, advocacy, social support, and assistance.Prefer: 1 year of Housing Case Management experience Must be able to provide their own transportation to conduct home visits with program participants, mileage will be reimbursed. Upon hire, complete the required 40 hours of Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocacy Training High School Diploma or equivalent (BA, AA, or some college coursework preferred) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
