Institutional Equity, Diversity and Justice at Pasadena City College is hiring Resource Advocates to support the needs of students for the following identity affirming Centers/empowerment programs: BlackSTEM - Black Student Success Center. BlackSTEM PCC connects our Black students to new and existing STEM programming. We are here to support student learning and work with tools and resources that contribute to their success in STEM. All our efforts are focused on the student, we assist in student success by Providing access to empowerment supportive services and academic services. Helping students identify clear paths to STEM degrees, certificates and transfer. Focus on understanding STEM career opportunities through social engagement and special events, and develop professional networking and workforce connections. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assist with student outreach for current cohort of BlackSTEM students and potential BlackSTEM students regarding academic deadlines, course enrollment, program events and resources, and more Assist Specialist with identifying program engagement opportunities as they relate to STEM Assist students with questions about financial aid, applications, add/drop and other academic-process related questions and making appropriate referrals Assist with administrative tasks, event planning, and marketing Assist with other projects as needed REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should be in or beginning a graduate program in STEM, counseling, higher education, psychology, sociology, or similar field and have at least 2 remaining to complete the program; OR Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in STEM, counseling, higher education, psychology, sociology, or similar field; and at least 2 years of experience in a role focused on supporting student success and education APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS Pasadena City College (PCC) utilizes an online application process.
