Your Role:

The successful candidate should have at least 2-years Quality / R&D Technician experience. Aerosol Cosmetic experience is desired but would be willing to teach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Executes daily job duties and schedules tasks as assigned based on project needs.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe lab area.
  • Able to work independently after projects are identified.
  • Knowledge of CGMP.
  • Ability to work with quickly changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow directions carefully and accurately.
  • Ability to perform procedures accurately and efficiently; work independently and with a team; maintain good working relationships with other staff.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Possesses intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, file organization, and use of the internet for research purposes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with the safe filling of aerosol products (Ability/Experience to use Propellent Burette and Lab Crimper etc.)
  • Be familiar with the various components of aerosol products (cans, valves, actuators, concentrate, etc.) and how they interact to produce the final product.
  • Be familiar with handling small amounts of hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintain an inventory of laboratory reagents.
  • Safely handle and store laboratory waste.
  • (Desirable) Be familiar with surfactant systems, gels, emulsions, serums needed to make hair and skin care products.
  • (Desirable) Be familiar with hair care formulations (mousses, hairsprays, spray wax, conditioners, dry shampoos) to make products.
  • (Desirable) Be familiar with methods of evaluating their functional effect.
  • Ability to produce laboratory-scale batches of cosmetics for research, quality control, and performance evaluation purposes.
  • Document all laboratory experiments; maintain an up-to-date Lab Notebook, procedures, specification recommendations, enter formulas into computer database.
  • Provide technical specifications of raw materials, cosmetics products, and aerosol can components to Quality Control and Manufacturing.
  • Communicate process and/or formulation changes, improvements of each scale-up to revise, optimize the manufacturing procedures to relevant person (from production, QC, R&D etc.).
  • Provide technical support/assistance for customer complaints and aerosol line production issues.

Special Safety Consideration:

  • Must have no special sensitivity to Solvents, VOC, Hydrocarbon/CFC Propellent, Fragrances etc.
  • Should be familiar with handling corrosive, oxidative, flammable, and explosive chemicals.

EDUCATION:

  • B.S. degree in related scientific field or equivalent experience in food, drug, or cosmetic industry.
