We are seeking an energetic and creative Direct Support Professional that can create WOW! Magic for our Guests with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities out in the Community! If you have a passion for people and helping to develop their creative side, this is the job for you. The hours are 3-7pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays!SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Create and implement curriculum ensuring all activities are meaningful and include a variety of different life skills
- Teaches, trains, guides and directs Guests individually and in groups to reinforce skills, learn new life skills and to increase independence
- Provide transportation to and from the program which includes driving the Guests home at the end of the program.
- Teaches, trains, guides and directs Guests individually and in groups to reinforce skills, learn new life skills and to increase independence
- Regularly observes Guests' behavior and performance and provides reports, updates and general observations to the Program Coordinator
- Maintain accurate and up to date records for each Guest

QualificationsEDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in social services, behavioral sciences or education. Degree can be waived if experience indicates competence.EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder or physical disabilities. SKILLS NEEDED/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Exceptionally strong communication and relationship building skills required
- Ability to analyze systems, operations and procedures required
- Ability to set professional boundaries and limits with Guests
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule; early afternoons to early evening.
- Committed to a team approach to service delivery
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer skills
- Good community relations skills
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Frequent walking, standing, crouching and lifting
- Must be able to lift 30 - 40 pounds
- Must be able to maintain a fast-paced environment with a high energy level
- Must be able to assist in transfers, lifts and personal care assistance
- Must be able to physically implement First aid/CPR to individuals in response to an emergency situation and/or the implementation of a Crisis plan
EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
- Frequent short deadlines, changes in work schedule, change in office assignments or assigned tasks given the demands of the position
- Work environment frequently hectic, fast-paced with periods of high stress
- Must be able to calmly and analytically respond to individual crisis situations
