THE POSITION Reporting to the Principal, After School Instructional Aides will spark creativity, inspire minds, and share the magic of the arts in a fun and dynamic environment! The After School Instructional Aide will provide real world experience and skills in the visual and/or performing arts to prepare students for success in college and career.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Unleash Creativity!
  • Plan and lead engaging arts activities that give students exciting and hands-on experiences.
  • Introduce fun and simple techniques to help students explore their unique artistic style.
  • Empower students to dream big and express themselves boldly through art.
Lead Amazing Projects
  • Help students collaborate on engaging group projects or create their own masterpieces.
  • Organize art events, student galleries, mini theater performances, and/or dance recitals, so students can show off their incredible work
Create a Fun and Safe Space
  • Be the fun, supportive person kids can't wait to see after school.
  • Build an environment where every student feels welcome, confident, and encouraged to be their true selves.
Be a Team Player
  • Collaborate with our amazing staff to keep the program running smoothly.
  • Share updates and celebrate wins with families and your fellow staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree and/or industry experience
  • Knowledge of adolescent growth, development and behavior characteristics; concepts of cognitive development and different learning styles
  • Ability and willingness to support every student with learning needs
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; ability and good judgment to take initiative to modify activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community
  • Desire to work and learn as part of an innovative special education and school team
  • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve
  • Prior experience working with adolescents and a diverse student body
  • Once hired, continuous current California residency.
  • Demonstrated success working with parents and families, especially Black, African American, Latino/a/x, and immigrant families.
LOCATION & SCHEDULEThis position is onsite at Envision Academy in Oakland.
  • Mondays 3:45-6pm
  • Tuesdays 3:45-6pm
  • Wednesday 1-3pm
  • Thursdays 3:45-6pm
  • Fridays - no after school program
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • This is a stipend of $5,000, paid in 5 monthly installments of $1,000 each at the end of January, February, March, April and May.
  • This position does not include benefits
