Our teens after-school educational programs are seeking an After School Program Site Coordinator ready to lead programs and program staff, and inspire students between9th and 12th grade by offering various educational and recreational activities such as tutoring, academic homework support, enrichment, physical activities, recreation, clubs, sports, and more. You'll ensure a safe, caring after school program environment for all students that encourages creativity, expression and social emotional learning.
The After School Program Site Coordinator leads a team of After School Program Leaders to provide academic, enrichment and physical recreation programs to students attending the YMCA's After School Programs to nurture the full potential of every student to help them reach their best outcomes. The YMCA's High School After School Programs are located on public high school campuses - we serve students right at school.
What you'll do:
- Support teens and staff in various activities like tutoring, academic homework support, physical activities, recreation, clubs, sports, and more
- Engage over 120 teens, daily
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
- Directly supervise and collaborate with team members to plan and execute engaging programs
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and the school community
- Work After school hours: 1:30pm-6:30pm, Monday-Friday at our Northridge Academy High School or Valley Academy for Arts and Sciences site
- Work 20-25 hours per week during the school year (additional hours may be available during school breaks and summer)
What we're looking for:
- Must be 21 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Passion for working with teens in an educational setting
- Experience supervising adults
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all
- Eagerness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive community
- Attend paid trainings, special events and professional development sessions that take place during the year.
- TB Test Clearance prior to first shift (YMCA Paid)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification from the ARC, ASHI, or the AHA (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire at a YMCA paid training). Online only courses are not accepted.
- This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check.
