Assignments will vary length of time and must be successfully completed within one year.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assists assigned coordinator in assuming primary responsibility for the quality of the program at the school site ensuring a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment.Participates in supervising, training, instructing, redirecting, and delegating work to After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) and substitute site staff.Assists in coordinating and monitoring work schedules and arranging field trips.Assists with the procurement of parts and supplies that may include budgetary cost, inventory, and ordering.Learns to confer with parents/guardians and assists assigned coordinator as primary parent liaison.Assists in conducting regular staff meetings, nurtures creativity, and professional growth in staff.Learns how to evaluate the performance of subordinate personnel in accordance with district evaluation policies and guidelines.Learns how to facilitate and coordinate special program activities and work of community resource persons.Learns school, state licensing, and ASEP policies and procedures.Participates in planning and providing a daily program of enriching experiences for an assigned group of children, at sites enrolling fewer than sixty-five children.Learns how to maintain individual employee files containing relevant personnel information, including, but not limited to, attendance and training records, and disciplinary actions.Learns how to provides exceptional customer service on various issues relative to ASEP services, facility management, and operations of assigned sites.Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.Receives monthly training and support on seasonal events such as winter/spring break, summer camp, evaluations, curriculum expectations, in-service training, contract services/field trips, etc.May coordinate the work of the ASEP staff at the assigned site if a site coordinator is on approved leave or the position is vacant.Performs other related duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYDirect supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills & abilities
- Knowledge of basic mathematical skills to understand ratios and percentages for mixing cleaning solutions
- Knowledge of and ability to execute performance management techniques
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
- Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
Education, Training & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Child Care Credential I & II or EDU 119
- At least 1 year working in the administration of or with children in a licensed facility
OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
- BSAC- Basic School-Age Care within 3 months of hire.
- NC-DHHS Criminal Background Check required prior to hire.
Preferred qualifications
- NC Early Childcare Credential I or II and Administration I & II
- Associate or four-year degree with emphasis on child development, early childhood education or a related field with at least 12 semester hours in child development, child psychology or early education
- At least 2 years of verifiable administrative work in child day care or early childhood experience in a licensed setting
