The MITRE Expeditionary Department is actively searching for a dynamic Systems Engineer to join our team. Our department is at the forefront of delivering innovative concepts, technologies, and methodologies that empower current and future Naval superiority. This role demands inventive problem-solving skills, applying systems of systems engineering and strategic enterprise architecture to enhance future system technology development, requirements development, and sponsor investments.
The candidate will possess operational and domain knowledge of the Marine Corps, complemented by an understanding of tactical architectures, capability and requirements analysis, and techniques. The chosen candidate will collaborate with diverse and geographically separated teams to solve our sponsors' most challenging questions regarding the application of systems engineering principles to critical systems employments.
Job Responsibilities:
Quickly build collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and team members across the organization to help them in their Agile journey adoption.
Assess the current delivery environment and provide strategic assistance in tailoring Agile techniques, concepts, and approaches to improve value delivery.
Facilitate cohesion and alignment across the organization.
Perform various Agile roles (i.e. Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master) where needed, while helping to grow others into the role.
Ability to engage government leaders and coalesce them around defining the context, problem space and vision to determine capabilities, priorities, road maps, transformation plans and next steps.
Experience using tools to successfully transition to Agile methodologies and ability to provide general guidance for tools setup (e.g., Confluence, Jira).
Consolidate and report project status updates and issues.
Facilitate and participate in the collaborative process of identifying and capturing systems engineering data with engineers and technical subject matter experts.
Prepare and maintain technical systems or program documentation, integrated master schedules, comment resolution matrices, presentations, and training material.
Develop solutions to program and project issues.
Plan, coordinate, and participate in systems engineering meetings and events.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically, Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, engineering, or technical discipline with 5 years of related experience; or Master's degree and 3 years of experience; or combination of education and experience who can immediately contribute at this job step
Deep Agile expertise (theory and practice) on multiple Agile frameworks, the Agile manifesto and values; a deep understanding of and ability to be a servant leader.
Experience applying agile methodologies (e.g., Scaled Agile Framework, Kanban , Scrum etc.) in various domains such as healthcare, defense and security, and acquisition.
System Engineering development and analysis.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and influence others to achieve desired results for the project.
Capable of working independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously.
Related experience in systems analysis and integration, mission analysis, capabilities development, requirements analysis, and/or business process analysis.
Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., information systems, systems engineering, computer science, information technology).
Knowledge of Navy, Marine Corps, Joint, and Interagency domains.
Knowledge of the DoD Human Resource Development Process.
A current/active DoD Top Secret clearance.
Experience with Scaled Agile Framework.
