Work Counties include: Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Ballard, McCracken, Graves, Livingston, Marshall, Calloway, Crittenden, Caldwell, Trigg and Lyon.DescriptionCome work with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) where we continue to make Kentucky Proud!This position is located in the Office of Consumer and Environmental Protection, Divison of EnvrionmentalServices, Pesticides Licensing and Compliance Branch, Field Inspection Section 2.The Agricultural Regulatory Specialist I job duties will include:
  • Learns to and conducts basic state level inspections of equipment and premises for usage, storage, display and disposal of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other restricted chemicals in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • With direction, assists with the investigation of complaints and regulation violations concerning the usage and application of restricted pesticides and other chemicals. Reports violations to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Assists with the administration of competency examinations for commercial pesticide application licenses or authorization to purchase and use restricted chemicals.
  • Performs various public education functions at meetings, fairs and shows.
  • Prepares and completes all required forms and reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

We would love to have you on our team!Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:NONESubstitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONESubstitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Experience in agriculture, inspection, quality control, regulatory, chemical application or application or inspection of pesticides or restricted chemicals, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.Working ConditionsTypical working conditions will require travel to such places as stockyards, farms, businesses, and amusement parks.
