- Must have or be eligible to hold an Agriculture teaching license (700).
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related area (such as Agricultural Business Management, Agricultural Development, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Animal Science, Equine Science, Veterinary Science, Forestry, General Agriculture etc.) and two years of industry related experience.
- Applicants must also complete New Teacher Institute couusework and Agriculture DELTA program within 3 years.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 MonthsSALARY: NC State Salary Schedule plus applicable local supplementPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:The Agriculture Education Teacher should be able to assist students in:
- Exploring career options in agriculture and to assist them in planning for a future career
- Training with technical skills needed to be successful in an agriculture career
- Developing basic workplace skills and functions as ethical and moral citizens
- Connecting with real world of work through rigorous and relevant hands-on learning experiences
- Providing opportunities to participate in leadership and personal development training needed to succeed in a career.
- Providing a wide range of career information and experiences, utilizing the state curriculum
- Utilizing technology and a variety of learning tools to provide them with success throughout high school life.
In addition, the Agriculture Teacher will be expected to:
- Adhere to ethical standards of the teaching profession, abiding by laws, policies and procedures that govern the schools.
- Be deemed Highly Qualified to teach in accordance with the federal No Child Left Behind Act .
- Prepare lessons and provide learning opportunities in accordance to the academic level needed to reach students in a classroom setting.
- Maintain classroom surroundings in order to enhance the learning environment.
