Position Type: CCAWorks Programs/AgWorks Program Coordinator Date Posted: 9/11/2024 Location: CCA Harrisburg (Capital Campus) Position: AgWorks Program Coordinator Position Summary Working from our Capital Campus Family Service Center, the CCA AgWorks Program Coordinator will lead the coordination, planning, and management of learner programs within our greenhouse and biotechnology lab operations. The primary duties of this position involve collaborating with teachers, learners, CCA families, and the wider community to develop and deliver engaging activities, both virtually and in-person, that connect them to Pennsylvania-based career opportunities. CCA serves a diverse community, including individuals interested in internships, service-learning hours, independent studies, and edio-aligned, career-focused lessons. The coordinator will be responsible for aligning tasks, protocols, processes, and standard operating procedures found in industry into career-based activities. They will create and promote these programs with our K-12 teachers, Family Services Department, AgWorks Team, and outside groups. The coordinator is responsible for working with learners to ensure they take ownership of the lab, including student-led virtual and in-person lessons, tours, and activities. The CCA AgWorks Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, industry professionals, and community partners to integrate career-connected learning opportunities into existing curriculum frameworks K-12
  • Design and facilitate live stream lessons covering various aspects of workforce development opportunities connected to AgWorks
  • Plan and execute hands-on activity days focused on agricultural concepts that may include our mobile agricultural classroom
  • Develop and refine internship programming with resources aligned with state standards and industry needs
  • Create and implement initiatives to prepare students for future career opportunities through skill-building activities, internships, and mentorship programs.
  • Organize relevant agricultural and biotechnology-related facilities, farms, laboratories, and businesses for field trip opportunities for AgWorks learners
  • Collect and analyze data to measure student engagement, learning outcomes, and program impact
  • Develop internal marketing materials to promote career-connected curriculum activities and events, coordinating outreach efforts to engage CCA families as well as community stakeholders
  • Collect video and photographic content generated by students, staff, and volunteers that can be used for edio courses, marketing materials, pamphlets, FAQs, etc.
  • Provide input regarding curriculum, assisting the Learning Department (curriculum writers) and teachers on an as-needed basis
  • Coordinate walk-throughs and events within the lab, staffing the lab with CCA learners
  • Assist with creating Professional Development opportunities for staff and the community
  • Recruit staff to assist with AgWorks activities

Work Environment This job operates in an aquaponics lab. The employee will need working directly with students/staff/community members in the field. They will be working with water, plants, fish, bio-controls, etc.. Physical Demands This is a physical role, which requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend and stand for long periods of time. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed. Position Type

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a field of agriculture, plant or soil science, aquaculture, environmental science, biology, bio-systems or related field
  • Some experience in marketing, public relations or event management
  • Five or more years' experience in greenhouse, aquaponics, hydroponics or controlled agriculture environment setting
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Background in education is beneficial
  • Demonstrated knowledge with lesson planning and curriculum
