General Summary:
- Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, per-operative and post-operative procedures, and assists in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures.Provide patient and family with pre-operative education, answer questions regarding surgery, recovery and risk factor modification.
- Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
- Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges.
- First assisting in cardiovascular surgery, vein and radial artery harvesting, first assisting with CABG, valve, aortic and thoracic surgery.
- Ability to perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic.
- Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow-up.
- Management of patients both pre- and post-implantation for Ventricular Assist Devices and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
- Management of patients undergoing Trans Catheter Valve Procedures
Schedule Details:
- Monday through Friday
- Weeknight on call responsibilities with rotating weekend coverage
- Campuses covered: AdventHealth Orlando & AdventHealth Celebration
Required Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in physician assistant studies or Master of Science in Nursing
- Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience.
- Practicing experience as a cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgery PA or APRN-RNFA.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong medical decision-making skills
Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
- Current, valid Florida PA-C or APRN license or ability to obtain
- Accreditation by NCCPA or other nationally recognized certification organizations
- BLS and ACLS
