Job DescriptionA leading commercial construction company is seeking an AIA Construction Accounts Receivable/Billing Specialist to manage accounts receivable processes with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the construction industry, including AIA billing procedures and lien waivers. Working collaboratively, the new team member will ensure timely and accurate billing by coordinating collections and reporting while maintaining compliance with construction contracts and supporting smooth financial operations. Location: Houston, TX Type of Position: Direct Hire Responsibilities:
  • Invoicing and Billing:
    • Prepare and submit monthly AIA G702/G703 progress billings.
    • Ensure all billings comply with contract terms and client requirements.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records.
  • Collections:
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past due accounts.
    • Communicate effectively with clients regarding outstanding invoices.
    • Work with project managers to resolve any billing disputes or discrepancies.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports for management.
    • Assist in month-end closing processes and account reconciliations.
    • Provide regular updates on collection status and potential issues.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all billing and collections activities.
    • Prepare lien waivers, releases, and other necessary documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, clients, and other departments to ensure smooth billing and collections processes.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable experience in the construction industry.
  • Must have experience with AIA billing procedures and construction contracts.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, Sage, or similar)
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
