Assist teachers in the preparation and management of classroom including diffusing disruptive student behavior to refocus and transition students into classroom activities. Work directly under the supervision of a certified teacher and/or campus administrator. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Associate's degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning or Para Professional Institute Certificate Valid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to assist in behavior management and intervention Ability to assist instructing reading, writing, and mathematics Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Experience Some experience working with children who exhibit behavior problems. Major Responsibilites and Duties:
  • Assist in the intervention and management of student behavior under direct supervision of teacher and/or campus administrator.
  • Assist in the instruction of students under direct supervision of teacher and/or campus administrator.
  • Diffuse disruptive behaviors, refocus and transition the student into classroom activities.
  • Assist teacher in the preparation of instruction.
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required behavior and/or instructional related reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
  • Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Copier, personal computer, typewriter, and audiovisual equipment Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
