Position Type:Campus Support/Campus AideDate Posted:7/17/2024Location:DistrictwideDate Available:2024 - 25 School Year Additional Information: Show/HideReports to: Principal and teacher(s)Pay Grade: Clerical 3 - refer to HR/Pay Scales at magnoliaisd.orgDept./School: Special EducationDate Revised: 10/31/2017Calendar Days: 187 DaysPrimary Purpose:The job of Paraprofessional Special Education Positive Support for Student Success (PASS) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for supervising students that have been placed in the PASS program; documenting student behavior, monitoring student in classrooms, assisting teacher at providing for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diplomaValid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate(at applicant's expense) within 30 days of employmentSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work with children with disabilitiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyKnowledge of general office equipmentExperience:Experience working with children preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional Support* Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.* Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.* Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student Management* Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavior plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.* Models conversation, manners, listing and every interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.* Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.* Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.* Help manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.* Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.* Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.* Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.* Reports problems directly to the supervising teacher/administrator for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, administrative and/or school policies.* Performs other related duties assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the PASS program.Other* Maintain confidentiality.* Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.* Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Equipment Used:Wheelchair lift, ramp, computer, IPAD, standard office equipment, and audiovisual equipment.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress.
