They are seeking an exceptional Ocean Import Specialist to join their dynamic team and contribute to the seamless flow of international trade. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Ocean Import Operations: Oversee the complete ocean import process, ensuring strict compliance with US Customs regulations and company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilize CargoWise One: Use CargoWise One to efficiently process shipments, update milestones, and generate accurate documentation, ensuring smooth and timely operations.
  • Coordinate Shipments: Work closely with origin offices, carriers, and customs brokers to optimize shipment routing, minimize transit times, and resolve any logistical challenges.
  • Handle Pre-Alerts and Pre-Clearance: Perform pre-alerts and pre-clearance activities to expedite customs clearance processes and facilitate swift delivery.
  • Resolve Exceptions: Monitor and address exceptions such as cargo rolls, demurrage/detention issues, and customs holds, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Provide Shipment Visibility: Conduct shipment visibility reporting and proactively communicate status updates to both internal and external stakeholders, keeping all parties informed.
  • Collaborate on Pricing: Work with the pricing team to ensure accurate quoting and invoicing of accessorial charges, maintaining transparency and precision in financial transactions.
  • Implement Process Improvements: Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and boost customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in ocean import operations, ideally with a global freight forwarder.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise One or similar freight management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Incoterms, HTS classifications, and US Customs regulations.
  • Strong understanding of container types, vessel rotations, and port operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with clients, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a proven track record of meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field is preferred.
