Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic II

Location: Oceana, VA (FRCMA)

Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Intermediate Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:

Power Plants and related Sub-Systems

* Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.

* Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.

* Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.

* Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.

* Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.

* Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.

Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

Task Requirements:

* May occasionally perform duties as Team Lead

* Aircraft Mechanic II shall hold CDI minimum credentials and shall perform inspection on contractor performed workload as required by the NAMP.

* Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means

* Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft powerplant systems.

* Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).

* Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging.

* Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

* Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

* Maintenance Control planning and management

* Aircraft inspections

* Corrosion Control/Aircraft Painting

* Troubleshooting

* Preservation and de-preservation

* General engine maintenance

* Technical Directive compliance and modifications

* Tool Control Program Tool issue/receipt supporting aircraft maintenance shops

* including hazardous materials, tool room/box/pouch configuration

* Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL), and Metrology and Calibration

* (METCAL) Program Management

* F404-GE-400/402 teardown and disposition

* F414-GE-400 Complete engine and engine module tear down and build-up

* Maintain Aircraft, Engines, and SE Logbooks

* Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment

* Perform shift work and/or overtime as required

* Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.

* Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.

* Perform other tasks as directed.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Seven or more years' JEIM experience on F404-GE-400/402 and/or F414-GE-400

* Previously certified Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) for propulsion systems.

* Previously certified Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for propulsion systems.

* Test Cell Operator

* Familiarity and ability to use NAVAIR IETMS.

* Five or more years' experience with NALCOMIS

* Two or more years' experience working in Maintenance/Production Control as a Controller.

* Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish

Basic Qualifications:

* Four or more years' Aviation Power Plant experience.

* Four years Aviation Maintenance experience

* Must be able to obtain Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for propulsion systems.

* Four or more years' experience with NALCOMIS

* Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)

* Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS

* Basic Corrosion Control Course.

* Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules as required.

* Must be able to pass a background check.

* Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC).

* Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.

* Must be able to use hand and power tools.

* Must have dexterity to handle small parts.

* Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.

* Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC).

Compensation

$35.18/hour

Other Compensation

Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour worked.
