Position SummaryOperate airless striping machine or spray gun to paint, runways, taxiways, directional signs on taxiways, aircraft terminal parking areas, curbs, arrows, crosswalks and other markings on airport roadways and pavement; operate heavy snow-removal equipment; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.Job descriptions are intended to present a general list of tasks/duties performed by employees within this job classification. Job Descriptions are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.Minimum Education, Experience And Additional RequirementsEducation directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.High school diploma or GED; andThree (3) years of pavement striping and marking experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B).Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.Preferred Knowledge* Methods and techniques of FAA Specification Marking* Methods and techniques of pavement marking* Operation and maintenance of pavement striping machinery and equipment* Surface preparation methods and techniques* Methods and techniques of paint mixing* Occupational hazards and standard safety practicesPreferred Skills & Abilities* Independently perform the most difficult pavement marking tasks* Operate and maintain a variety of striping equipment* Perform necessary surface preparation to ensure adherence of paint* Work independently in the absence of supervision* Read and interpret blue prints and drawings* Effectively communicate with communications tower* Understand and follow oral and written instructions* Communicate clearly and concisely* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work* Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
