Job Description:
Position will be open until filled.We are currently seeking:An airport director to lead the City employees of the San Angelo Regional Airport. In this role, you will manage and coordinate operational efficiencies, staff direction and development, the Capital Improvement Projects, as well as provide expertise, analysis, and recommendations for the improvement of the Airport.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and coordinating special research requests, capital improvement projects, and other department initiatives. Providing accurate and timely reporting.
  • Managing and participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Ensuring compliance and legal requirements are met.
  • Oversight of planning, design, engineering, and construction management including resources, cost schedules, milestones, and vendor management.
  • Planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs, and cost estimates for various development projects, easements, and legal requirements. Performing aviation and traffic planning activities and studies.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and tracking budget allocations, employee assignments, performance, and project completion.
  • Managing a variety of airport projects to include pavement work, two new concourses, a rental car facility, solar fields, approving and supervising tenant rehab work, i.e., a fuel tank, FAA equipment installations, apron work, etc.
  • Leading the capital planning processes to ensure meeting priority project completion while maximizing funding from all sources; evaluating and analyzing reports to make budgetary and other resource recommendations as needed.
  • Maintaining and ensuring Airport Safety and Security regulations are met and are current per FAA standards.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and experience:A Bachelor's degree with major coursework in aviation management, engineering, urban or regional planning, architecture, or a related field; and 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in management-level planning, engineering, or a related field in an airport/aviation environment. A minimum of 1 year in a management or supervisory role.Required Licenses or Certifications:
    • A driver license with a good driving record is required.
    • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
    • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) or International Airport Professional (IAP) credentials are highly desired.
    • The ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Transportation Administration (TSA) will be required.
    Physical Demands / Work Environment:
    • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
    • Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 15 pounds.
    • Exposure to potentially hostile members of the public is involved.
