General custodial and maintenance work in the cleaning, repair and maintenance of the Airport buildings, runway and grounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform fueling/de-icing aircraft as needed.
  • Responsible for greeting, parking, towing, moving, and marshaling aircraft arriving and/or departing the airfield
  • Work with payment transactions utilizing point of sales system
  • Accurately track aircraft fueling, payments and the cash drawer
  • Answer incoming phone calls/transfer calls appropriately
  • Follow and comply with all aviation safety rules and regulations
  • Perform daily/monthly/quarterly/annual fuel/delivery system quality assurance checks
  • Assist passengers and/or crew with baggage/cargo
  • Provide customer with professional service and assistance with hotel, car and other travel reservations.
  • Set-up and confirm catering orders with restaurants
  • Assist with wing-walking duties during aircraft movements
  • Dust, sweep, mop wax furniture and floors.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms.
  • Wash and/or paint windows, walls, woodwork.
  • Gather and dispose of refuse.
  • Operate maintenance and custodial equipment and tools.
  • Perform maintenance minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Maintain records and reports as required.
  • Operate custodial and maintenance equipment.
  • Inspect/maintain Airport/Airfield on a daily basis.
  • Mow and/or water grass and perform lawn maintenance.
  • Perform related custodial and maintenance work as required.
  • Perform airfield operations and maintenance activities on the airfield and buildings.
  • Respond to accidents/incidents involving aircraft.
  • Ensure proper safe airfield conditions.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment for snow plowing and turf mowing.
  • Assists the director in daily administrative and operational control of the airport and its resources.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance DEQ Stormwater prevention plan, DNR wildlife control permits and DEQ environmental regulations.
  • Assist with the enforcement of the St. Clair County International Airport Zoning Ordinance.
  • Assist in analyzing of fuel sales, volumes and inventory.
  • May serve as backup to the Director for payroll processing.
  • Snow removal operations during inclement weather, determine the need for snow removal, coordinate all weather related operations and report to FAA Flight Service Station and all airport tenants.
  • Availability for snow removal and airport emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days a week as on call.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:An employee in this classification is subject to the direct supervision of the Airport Director. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:N/AEXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION:
  • Possession of a high school degree or equivalent required.
  • General maintenance and operation of heavy equipment required.
  • Experience in airport operations and/or aviation preferred but not required.
  • Automated External Defibrillator and CPR Certification required.
  • Basic firefighting techniques required.
  • Reasonable knowledge and experience in the use of materials and equipment used in performing a variety of airfield, building and grounds cleaning and maintenance work.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, with reasonable knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and heavy equipment repair.
  • Understanding of Airfield safety standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures or airfield maintenance.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Writing, reading, mathematical principles; proficient computer skills-Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook; exercise sound judgment and decision making in accordance with policies and procedures; ability to research and problem solve independently; knowledge of County operations and functions; ability to prioritize and time manage; handle stressful situations, provide effective and friendly customer service; support the County's mission and values; ability to think critically where necessary.
  • Knowledge or understanding of basic administrative tasks: operate standard office equipment; document management; prepare and maintain records, various correspondences and reports; answer general inquiries and refer as necessary; answer telephone calls, process mail, order supplies/equipment; prepare meeting agendas, attend meetings, record/transcribe/distribute minutes; entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic form with speed and accuracy; maintain calendars, arrange meetings, schedule rooms and equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with management, co-workers and clients; obtain and communicate accurate information; apply common sense understanding to complex instructions and respond accordingly; communicate complex ideas through graphs, charts, presentations, reports or other professional correspondence.

  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook required. Proficiency may be tested.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Prior to starting employment, the candidate must complete a satisfactory background check. The background check is understood to encompass all forms of pre-employment screening, including but not limited to: drug screen, physical, criminal background, driving record, sex offender registry, education, training and licensing verification, employment history, credit check, and professional and personal references.
  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan operator license and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.
  • Complete aviation competence education training within 30 days of employment
  • Must have CDL with airbrake endorsement and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must have MDOT DEQ Industrial Storm Water Certification within 90 days of employment in the position.
  • Possession of a valid CPR, first aid and AED certification, or successfully complete the training within ninety (90) days of employment in the position.
