This includes routine maintenance of buildings, runways, taxiways, terminals, airfield lighting systems, and other critical systems. The technician will work closely with other airport staff to uphold safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and minimize operational disruptions.Essential Job Functions Key Responsibilities:Airport Facility Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of airport buildings, including terminals, administrative offices, restrooms, US Customs and Border Protection facilities and other public areas.
- Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building infrastructure.
- Conduct minor repairs on machinery and equipment as needed.
Airfield Maintenance:
- Inspect and maintain the runways, taxiways, apron areas, and other airfield surfaces for safety and operational readiness.
- Remove Foreign Object Debris (FOD) from the airfield.
- Maintain airfield lighting systems, including runway lights, taxiway lights, and approach lighting.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of equipment for special events or emergency situations. May operate all types of light, medium and heavy equipment necessary for the maintenance of Airport properties. Provide vehicle and aircraft escorts as requested.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with airport safety policies, local, state, and federal regulations, and applicable industry standards.
- Conduct routine safety checks of equipment and airport infrastructure to identify hazards or areas requiring attention.
- Participate in safety training and emergency response drills as required.
- May monitor airside vehicle traffic for compliance with the Airfield Driving Regulations.
- Ensure that all airport operations comply with FAR Part 139, Part 77, TSR Part 1542 and other applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
Emergency Response:
- Initiate and assist with airport response to potential and real emergencies, operational concerns, safety concerns, and airfield incidents by ensuring response by team members and coordinating resources with other stakeholders in accordance with the Airport's Emergency Plan. Submits incident and accident reports.
- Assist with traffic management and crowd control during major events or incidents.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, airfield inspections, and repairs using an asset management system and files work requests for deficiencies noted.
- Issue NOTAMs as needed to communicate hazards to flight crews and users.
- Report any deficiencies, issues, or concerns to the Crew Leader or Assistant Manager for immediate attention.
Collaboration:
- Work in close coordination with airport operations, security, and other maintenance personnel to ensure all systems are functional and meet operational needs.
- Provide support for contractors and vendors on large-scale repairs or specialized services.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION: Specialized airport operations, safety and maintenance training upon availability. Airfield lighting training provided by ADB Safegate or as determined by airport management. Must possess a Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Constant physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting heavy materials. Requires stamina and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. May involve working in physically challenging environments or conditions.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: Duties may require work in both climate-controlled indoor environments and outdoor locations exposed to varying weather conditions. The role may involve exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and mechanical equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required. Employees may encounter extreme temperatures, especially when working outdoors or in unconditioned spaces. The position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, or other elevated surfaces. The role may require working outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as needed.SAFETY EQUIPMENT & PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE): Employees are required to adhere to all safety protocols and utilize appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) provided to ensure a safe working environment. - Mandatory PPE: Employees must wear designated PPE, which may include safety goggles, gloves, hard hats, hearing protection, and respiratory masks, depending on the tasks performed.
- Safety Training: All employees will receive training on the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE to minimize risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspection and Maintenance: Employees are responsible for regularly inspecting their PPE for wear and tear and reporting any damaged equipment to their supervisor for replacement.
- Emergency Equipment: Familiarity with the location and use of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and eyewash stations, is required.

- Must be able to pass FAA, TSA and Customs background checks and satisfy all requirements to acquire and maintain FAA and TSA security requirements and Customs Area security clearance
- Basic computer skills related to email and data entry, and basic math and reading skills.
- Experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with airfield systems, ground support equipment, or airport operations is preferred.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
