Summary/ObjectiveContributes to the overall mission of the Airport Department by maintaining Airport infrastructure, facilities, and grounds. Performance of duties include building maintenance, pavement maintenance, safety inspections, building security, snow removal, mowing, janitorial, and enforcement of Airport Rules and Regulations. Essential FunctionsMaintains airfield, airport buildings and facilities, grounds, land, and equipment/vehicles; this includes repairs, preventative maintenance, and horticulture/forestry duties.
- Performs routine inspections of equipment, grounds/lands, vehicles, facilities, buildings and other assigned areas; accomplish repairs, and reports discrepancies as needed to maintain facilities of the highest quality.
- Performs specialized duties in one or more of the following functional areas: facilities, security, safety, grounds and obstacles, pavement management, airfield lighting, signage and markings, and vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Operates Airport equipment to remove snow, sweep pavement, and landscape Airport property as well as performs mowing and turf maintenance duties.
- Performs all phases of building maintenance (including the walkways leading to the buildings), as required to maintain efficient operation of facilities and provides clean Airport buildings.
- Performs horticulture & forestry duties as required; tree cutting/removal, landscaping, irrigations, chemical mixing, wildlife control, etc.
- Maintains a daily log of work completed and materials expended, if required
- Performs duties according to City Code, Uniform Fire Code, Airport Certification Specifications, emergency and security regulations, equipment manuals, and numerous Federal Aviation Administration publications.
- Safely use, carry, or possess a City issued firearm, and accurately and effectively be able to discharge the firearm with proficiency to maintain airfield wildlife control.
Perform additional support duties as needed.
- Performs daily airport security responsibilities, including secures and locks gates, doors, and sets building alarm at end of shift, equipment check, and airfield inspections to ensure safety and efficient operation of facilities.
- Monitors ATC and emergency service frequencies so that the Airport Director or his designated representative can be notified in the event of an emergency.
- Performs necessary inspections and checks to secure landside facilities.
- Provides exit lane security, when needed.
- Responds to on-call duty and responds to call-backs which may include weekends and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsRequired Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Education and Experience
- One to three (1-3) years of prior related experience and/or training.
- Experience with airport operations, airport maintenance, and systems.
- Experience with heavy equipment.
