Job SummaryThis position assists the Airport Advisory Board (AAB) and the Aspen Pitkin County Airport to prepare, implement, coordinate, and manage various projects, including airport safety improvements, and emissions and noise reductions. Job Responsibilities
  • Manages consulting efforts for airport related projects, including the development of professional services solicitations, scope development, and budget management.
  • Coordinates between various stakeholder groups such as the AAB, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), state and local agencies, airlines, industry groups, and local pilot groups to address the application of the modernization of the airport facility.
  • Assists in the administration of contracts including those relating to professional and technical services.
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and management of new or revised programs, systems, and procedures relating to scope of responsibility.
  • Assists in the development, coordination and monitoring of the department budget related to special projects and programs.
  • Compiles and analyzes data, prepares reports, and makes recommendations on the dissemination of information and metrics via reports and dashboards.
  • Assists in refining systems and procedures to enhance operational and administrative efficiencies.
  • Represents the Airport in community and professional meetings as required; makes presentations as necessary.
  • Responds to requests for information.
  • Participates in administering and managing leases for Airport tenants.
  • Assists in the coordination of intradepartmental and departmental activities with internal and external partners.
  • Interpret Federal, State and County regulations/codes as they relate to the airport and the surrounding environment.
  • Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and SkillsThis position follows a sequence. Please note that this position will require Non-Movement Area Driving and the ability to pass a TSA security background check. First aid and CPR certification within six months of hire:
  • Level I:
    • Up to 1 year experience interpreting and applying regulations, managing projects of a technical nature, and budget management.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Airport Management, Urban Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Geography, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Level II (in addition to Level I):
    • 1 to 3 years of experience of progressively responsible and applicable experience.
    • American Association of Airport Executives, Certified Member (CM) Certification.
  • Level III (in addition to Level II):
    • 3 plus years of progressively responsible and applicable experience.
    • Project Management Professional Certification.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment, with some exposure to weather, and terrain.
  • May need to attend meetings outside of standard office hours.
