Read more about the Airport Department here.BENEFITSTHE POSITIONUnder general supervision, perform traffic control and security functions at the Airport's airline terminal; tactfully explain parking rules and regulations to the public; issue parking citations; monitor the Commercial Ground Transportation Lane for compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; conduct security inspections of the terminal building and ramp; respond to public inquires; monitor the passenger exit lane; conduct random inspections of employees who seek to enter a restricted area of the airport; and perform other duties as required.EMPLOYMENT STANDARDSKnowledge of: Principles and procedures of record keeping; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; basic mathematical principles; principles of airport emergency procedures; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations; modern communications procedures, methods and equipment including computers.Ability to: Make appropriate decisions; remain calm and effective under pressure situations; deal tactfully with upset people and explain parking ordinances and departmental procedures, follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; learn radio communication procedures; interpret City policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of duty; work independently; conduct routine inspections; pass a background investigation in accordance with TSR Part 1542.License Requirements: Possession of a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment. - Vacation is accrued at 96 hours / year, increasing with City service.
- Personal leave (32 hours) is provided each July 1st at the start of the fiscal year (pro-rated the first year).
- Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 96 hours / year.
- Holidays: 10 holidays (80 hours) are observed / year.
- Retirement: PERS Miscellaneous formula: Classic members: 2.7% @ 55; employee contributes 8% of salary. New members: 2% @ 62; employee contributes 6.75% of salary. The City does not participate in Social Security.

- Employees who opt-out of the group insurance coverage may be eligible for a cash pay-out of up to $362.38 / month.
