Employees in this classification are responsible for the preparation, review, correction, recording, processing, balancing and/or distribution of County accounts and financial operations data. Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Makes journal entries; enters purchase requisitions as needed.
- Serves as backup for budget transfers.
- Reconciles Accounts Payable Monthly and at year end.
- Reconciles bank statements.
- Assists with grants.
- Assists with audit preparation and assists with financial reports.
- Reviews and analyzes financial accounts, transactions, records, deposits, and related accounting processes for completeness and accuracy; verifies all deposits and withdrawals on statement are correct; prepares bank reconciliation to ensure that all entries on General ledger agree to the bank statement.
- Enters a variety of financial data into computer records as applicable to assigned departments; may enter data pertaining to payroll, purchasing, receivables, payables, pension funds, and fixed assets.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of various State and Federal program reports per regulations governing municipal financial activities, i.e., annual financial report, payroll quarterly reporting, cash transactions.
- Reviews the work of staff and reviews fixed asset reports and reconciliations, to include approval of deletions and/or transfers and additions as appropriate.
- Supervises staff /fixed assets and trains as needed.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree
- Four (4) years of related accounting work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
