** Summary**

The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is determined by state and Federal officials that employees are allowed to report to the workplace where this position is located, on a regular basis.***

**Responsibilities**

Airway Transportation Systems Specialist performs multiple, varying and complex assignments associated with the NAS. Incumbent has broad automated systems and networking responsibility, providing end-to-end services to Air Traffic customers.

**Technical Competence:** Incumbent possesses comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system, of the relationship of the parts to the whole, and of the capabilities within the NAS to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated air traffic safety issues. Maintains technical competency on legacy systems, and obtains the skills to install, integrate, maintain and restore new technologically advanced systems without supervision.

**Systems Support:** Incumbent serves as key technical point of contact for Navigational Aids systems: Instrument Landing Systems, Very High Frequency Omni Directional Ranges, Doppler Very High Frequency Omni Directional Ranges, Tactical Aircraft Control and Navigation, and Distance Measuring Equipment systems, programs or projects. Collaborates with system users, planners, engineers, and contractor personnel for the acceptance of new or modified systems and provides assistance for resolving problems with the installation or improvements.

**Operational Effectiveness:** Incumbent applies experience and detailed technical knowledge in planning, managing, and completing assignments in support of the NAS; has a broad automated systems and networking responsibility, providing end-to-end services for Air Traffic customers. Initiates actions to install, repair or restore systems and services on the availability of backup systems reconfiguration to minimize service interruptions and insure the safe and efficient operation of the NAS.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. **Specialized Experience:** Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the operation, repair, installation, analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, and certification on all or some of the following ground-based systems such as: Radar: Radar Airport Surveillance Radar, Air Route Surveillance Radar, Air Traffic Control Beacon Indicator, Airport Surface Detection Equipment and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar, Multilateration, IFF Communications: Motorola, ITT or General Dynamics radios, UHF, VHS, Satellite communication systems, Radio Communications Link Repeaters, Low Density Radio Communications Link Repeaters, Small Tower Voice Switches, Enhanced Terminal Voice Switches, Rapid Deployment Voice Switches, Digital Voice Recorder Systems, and Digital Audio Legal Recorder.

There is no timeframe requirement at the Level II/FV-G to compete. Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Generally, experience at the next lower level (Pay Band G/Level II or equivalent), meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES identified below.
