MUST HAVE BACKGROUND WITH EDUCATION EXPERIENCE MUST HAVE ACTIVE ALASKA LICENSE AT TIME OF SUBMISSIONMUST HAVE ALL VACCINATIONS AT TIME OF SUBMISSIONMaintains an ongoing, consortium-wide nursing education program for nursing staff to meet regulatory requirements. Assures nursing competency of all assigned staff including new hires. Provides support services to internal/external customers under direct supervision of the ClinicalEducation Manager, with latitude for independent decision making. Designs, teaches, and evaluates training programs. Acts as an internal training and organizational development consultant. Provides career development resources. Plans, implements, coordinates, and administers clinical specialty training programs including human patient simulator training. Provides educational and development services to both professional and non-professional staff to maintain and develop competency. Ensures educational activities are congruentwith SEARHC s mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.o Promotes the SEARHC Seven Standards ofExcellence.o Is responsible for the coordination and qualityof the nursing service orientation program across the entire service.o Acts as both a formal and informal consultant,assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice andserving as a resource by assisting nursing in identifying problems, identifyingavailable internal and external educational resources, and selectingeducational options.o Integrates ethical principles into all aspectsof practice.o Teaches assessment, diagnosis, outcomeidentification, planning, and implementation of plan of care.o Focus is patient/family centered,developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.o Provides nursing to meet the physical,emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the patient and family,utilizing a family-centered approach to care.o Utilizes the nursing diagnosis approach andassessment to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an appropriate patientplan of care.o Identifies specific patient care problems that affectprogram planning and development.Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinaryteam in assessing, planning, implementing, and o evaluating patient care delivery.o Ensures that all nursing staff are oriented tothe same standards, using the ASHNHA competencies when available.o Provides oversight of the orientation processin collaboration with the department managers and charge nurses.o Familiarizes all consortium staff withappropriate policies and procedures relevant to their skill level.o Coordinates with departmental and clinicalnurse managers to ensure consistency of area-specific orientation programs.o Provides coordination of the ACLS, PALS, BLS,NRP, and other programs.o Provides coordination activities for classesthat are requested by the NEC to be provided from outside contract instructorsor companies. Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality andeffectiveness of educational activities to ensure that they maintain andenhance professional development that promotes the delivery of cost-effective,high-quality healthcare.o Collaborates with others in the practice ofnursing professional development at the institutional, local, regional, andstate levels.o Serves as the liaison for clinical educationopportunities provided at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital for internal and external agenciesincluding UAS CNA students, UAA nursing students, and Village HealthOccupational Program (VHOP) students.o Facilitates communication with other healthcare providers in the community related to continuing education opportunitiesand coordination of services.o Participates in and uses evidence-basedresearch to identify strategies for improving professional developmentactivities, nursing practice, and patient outcomes.o Considers factors related to safety,effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing nursingprofessional development activities. Assists learners to identify both theirlearning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet thoseneeds while fostering a positive attitude about benefits and opportunities oflife-long learning.o Identifies changes that should be made innursing practice using an evidence-based approach and facilitating theinitiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.o Designs, creates, and applies research bysupporting the integration of research into practice and helping to developstaff members knowledge and skills in the research process as well as by fosteringthe use of systematic evaluative research regarding clinical, educational, andmanagerial data Fulfills assignments delegated by the ClinicalEducation Manager (CEM) in hospital emergency events.o Acts rapidly and effectively in any emergency. Attends and participates in at least 50% ofNurse Executive Committee meetingso Applies information presented in meetings.o Participates in Nursing Service s goal setting.o Initiates discussion with CEM regarding area ordepartment issues.o Completes annual competencies and evaluationmaterials.o Maintains certifications and licensureo Refers unresolved problems withpatients/visitors/co-workers to CEM for resolutiono Addressesemployee concerns consistent with Human Resources Policy.Education,Certifications, and Licenses Required Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing Master s degree in Nursing, BusinessAdministration, Education, Sociology, or related field Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurselicense in the state of Alaska ACLS, BLS, and PALS instructor certification ACLS, PALS, and NRP Highschool diploma or GEDExperienceRequired 5 years professional nursing experience withminimum 2 years as staff RN in a specialty (ER, ICU, OB, OR) At least 1 year with nursing supervisoryresponsibilities Prior Med/Surg, Outpatient, and/or Remote Ruralexperience preferred.
