The Parent Educator will support the mission of the Orchard Farm Early Learning Center by delivering high-quality, engaging, and supportive services through our Parents as Teachers Program, which includes the following: home visits, providing and connecting families with resources, facilitating group connections, and assessing the development of young children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plan and Implement Personal Family Visits in accordance with DESE
* Maintains Accurate Home-Visiting Records
* Participates and supports Family Recruitment Activities
* Conducts Screenings with Children between the ages of prenatal-kindergarten
* Shares Screening Results with Families in Developmentally Appropriate Manner
* Attends and participates in community events
* Fosters positive, supportive relationships between parents and the school community
* Participates in professional growth opportunities in early childhood education
* Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Parents as Teachers Coordinator and/or ELC Principal.
* Plan and provide group connections (in collaboration with other parent educators and community partners) to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development.
* Maintain confidentiality in regard to all families and services
* Connect families and facilitate the use of community resources that support them in reaching their goals and addressing their needs
* Be available to communicate with parents between scheduled personal visits when appropriate via text, phone, or email
Minimum Qualifications:
* 60 hours of college credit and two (2) years experience of successfully working in a program with young children and their parents.
* Bachelor's Degree in Education or a Related Field is preferred (although not required)
Skills and Abilities:
* Strong organizational skills to manage family caseloads, plan instructional supports, and maintain data.
* Thorough knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures used in child development and family-based practices.
* Excellent time management skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills
* Communicate one-on-one or in small groups
* Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
* Gather and interpret facts
* Use data to solve problems
* Must communicate appropriately with parents, children, and staff
* Must work closely with other school personnel to ensure appropriate services for children
Work Hours:
* Parent educators work variable hours, including some nights and weekends, although schedules are flexible.
* A full-time parent educator is eligible for a full-district benefit package, as stated above.
* A full-time parent educator would work between 200-220 days a year.
Rate of Pay: Starting Range $19.00 - $20.98/hour
