Position Overview: A tailor is needed to alter clothing items according to custom specifications and needs. In this position, the Alterations/Repair Specialist will use their knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion and the marketplace in order to alter pants for customers. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for communicating about Re-Uniqlo to guests and creating unique renewed clothing.
Key Responsibilities: - Execute basic repair services within a timely manner
- Sew hem of pants with industrial sewing machine
- Trim excess threads using scissors
- Measure, cut and sew hems following seams, edges, or markings on pants
- Alter pants hemlines to fit individual customers
- Working knowledge of sewing machines such as lock stitch, blind stitch, and serge machines
- Ensure repairs and alterations are done to Uniqlo's standard
- Act as a brand representative for Re-Uniqlo & Re-Use initiatives, repairs, and donations
- Potentially create upcycled clothing items
- Occasionally use POS system to support customer returns
- Maintain brand and operational standards (visual, cleanliness, etc.)
- Manage customer needs and exceed expectations by utilizing the UNIQLO service standard, following the UNIQLO Fundamental Principles and saying the 6 standard phrases.
Requirements: - At least six (6) months prior sewing/ fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong communication skills, fluency in English is a must
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the business needs, including evenings and weekends
Start Date: First week in September
