Concordia University Chicago invites applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Alumni Relations Specialist. This position is responsible for assisting in the cultivation and engagement of alumni in the mission and ministry of the University, playing a critical part in managing all aspects of alumni communications. This position is located in River Forest, IL and reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations. Responsibilities/Duties:
- Manages, develops content, and writes alumni communication including, but not limited to: alumni social media accounts, e-mails, University magazine, website, and direct mail
- Assists with alumni-centric events such as alumni receptions, commencement, and conferences, homecoming, Maroon & Gold banquet, and Athletic Hall of Fame
- Represents Concordia University Chicago as an ambassador at off-campus conferences and events
- Collaborates with Foundation colleagues (e.g., External Relations, Gift Officers, etc.) to ensure the University's brand and strategy is used consistently and effectively
- Coordinates and executes stewardship opportunities for Concordia-Chicago alumni
- Provides excellent customer service to inquiries via the Alumni-dedicated phone line and/or email account
- Assists the Senior Director of Alumni Relations with administrative tasks such as paperwork, filing, and data entry
- Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).
- Other duties as assigned
Skill Sets:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to reach alumni of diverse generations, backgrounds, and experiences
- Enthusiastic supporter of Concordia University Chicago and Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod higher education
- Experience developing content for various social media platforms
- Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
- Some graphic design knowledge a plus
- Ability to engage with LCMS stakeholders and influencers
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
Minimum Experience Required:
- 1-3 years of experience in alumni relations and/or fundraising preferred
- Experience in educational advancement preferred
- Strong preference given to alumni of Concordia University Chicago
