JOB SUMMARY: The Texas Rangers Baseball Club is seeking an Amateur Scouting Apprentice for the beginning of January.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:- Aid in all department logistics: draft meetings, player workouts, scout communication, database management.
- Aid in player information gathering in preparation for draft: maintain key databases and data collection processes from various sources, MLB surveys, collecting and editing video.
- Be present in all draft meetings
- Develop fundamental player evaluation skills including but not limited to scouting methodology and data analysis and in-person evaluations.
- Attend summer high school showcases, assist with various projects/assignments outside of amateur scouting (Professional, Baseball Operations, arbitration)
- All other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Ability to multitask in high pressure environments.
- Ability to relocate to Dallas-Fort Worth area.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Completed or currently pursuing a bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated passion for baseball.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships.
- Familiarity with advanced baseball statistics, amateur scouting and the rule 4 draft process.
- Growth oriented, desire to learn.
- Must possess highly proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Power Point).
- Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail. Meticulously completes work assignments thoroughly and in an accurate, and prompt way.
