AMERICAN INDIAN PROGRAM ASSISTANT DISTRICTWIDEMankato Area Public School supports programming for Native students. We aspire to engage students in cultural activities and mentorship by providing transportation to/from our grant-specific programming throughout the school year and in the summer when needed. Job Summary The American Indian Program Assistant will assist our Native Mankato Area Public School students and their families by providing transportation to/from our American Indian Education Aid Grant (AIA) and grant-specific programming throughout the school year and in the summer when needed. The Program Assistant will work closely with our American Indian Cultural Specialist, American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC), American Indian Community Liaison, and Student Support Coordinator. This position will assist our American Indian programming, including, but not limited, to:
- Support grant-specific programming.
- Attend program camps and events to assist with materials and activities.
- Transport our Native-only students and families to programs via a rental car or van during the school day, after school, non-school days, and/or summer.
This is a grant-funded, part-time position with funding secured through AIA on an annual basis. Qualifications:
- Knowledge of American Indian culture, Dakota, and/or Ojibwe language or culture preferred
- High school diploma or GED A two-year college degree is preferred
- Experience working with children
- Strong organizational skills and time management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities

Reports directly to the Director of Teaching & Learning or designee.
