We are seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Plant Director, the Ammonia Refrigeration Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration system for our new Cleveland, TN facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Operation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of the ammonia refrigeration system, its sub-systems, and all auxiliary processes and/or equipment related to the operation of the refrigeration system.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors on all ammonia refrigeration and utility systems.
  • Maintain the material integrity of the Refrigeration and utility rooms in accordance with established best practices.
  • Must be able to perform or capable of learning ammonia system pump downs for repairing / replacing ammonia refrigeration parts, etc.
  • Complete all applicable documentation as required and directed by Plant Director including but not limited to: PSM-related modifications or changes, Work Orders (WO's), refrigeration system and operation notes.
  • Complete daily rounds and inspections of Temperatures and Condition of Ammonia System.
  • Perform chemical tests on boilers as well as Condenser towers.
  • Monitor and maintain the glycol and electrical under floor heating systems, all fire and ammonia alarms, and monitor electrical usage of the refrigeration system to maximize savings.
  • Will perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all Process Refrigeration, HVAC, Boilers, and Compressed Air equipment and reports to Plant Leadership.
  • Adheres to all Company policies including but not limited to safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least six years of manufacturing experience to include at least three years of direct experience supporting industrial ammonia refrigeration is required. Experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred.
  • Must have Ammonia Certification from GCAP (NH3 Operator III or higher) or RETA (CIRO/CRST).
  • Must have extensive knowledge operating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, boiler, hot water, domestic cold water, and compressed air systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical and refrigeration issues in a fast-paced, time critical environment.
  • Basic knowledge of General Maintenance and Electrical and Electronic Systems also required.
  • Experience with controls, PLCs and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to pass respirator fit test and Pulmonary function test as well as 24-hour hazmat class.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms to a variety of stakeholders, to include providing clear communication of technical information to a variety of levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and individually with little or no supervision at times.
  • Proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Willing to work weekends and various shifts to support business needs.
