Position DescriptionValiant Integrated Services has an immediate opening for a Senior Joint Cyber Operations Analyst Trainer in support of the Joint Staff J7, Joint Training, Deployable Training Division (DTD) in Suffolk, Virginia, providing a continuum of individual, staff, and collective joint training to enhance the operational effectiveness of the current and future joint force. This position requires eligibility for a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance and travel as a member of various Deployable Training Teams (DTTs). The candidate will provide observation, training, and feedback, focused at the operational and strategic levels, to Joint Force Commanders and their staffs during joint and multi-national training, exercises, and staff assist visits (SAVs). The focus of the observation, training, and feedback will involve Cyber Operations planning and execution. The position requires knowledge of national defense strategy, theater strategy and campaigning, Cyber Operations processes at the operational and strategic levels, joint planning processes and systems, and the integration of multinational and interagency capabilities.Valiant Integrated Services is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. - Act as a subject matter expert and trainer in Cyber Operations in joint, multinational, interagency, and globally integrated planning and operations.
- Integrate into, contribute to, and provide functional continuity in the Deployable Training Division's Fires and Effects Section, which consists of military Observer Trainers (OTs) and contractor Analyst Trainers (ATs).
- Mentor, train, and support new OTs.
- Participate as a member of Deployable Training Teams (DTTs) comprised of OTs and ATs observing, training, and providing feedback to commanders and their staffs during Chairman's Exercise Program (CEP) exercises and other joint and multinational exercises, as well as for Mission Rehearsal Exercises and Staff Assistance Visits for named operations.
- Ascertain key command challenges at the operational and strategic levels of war and conduct cross-functional analysis of information gathered from joint exercises and training events for the development of lessons learned, insights, and best practices.
- Understand strategic thought and direction as it guides and is influenced by campaign, deliberate, and crisis planning at the operational level.
- Research national strategic documents; historical exercise documents; real world operations; the operating environment; command mission, organization, plans, and orders.; and interagency and coalition policies, strategies, and plans.
- Conduct trend analysis, understand and improve battle rhythms, provide observation and training, tie phased operational planning to strategic thought, and develop feedback.
- Develop the Commander's Facilitated After-Action Review (FAAR), Executive Summary Report (ESR), Combined Functional Report (CFR), and Internal After-Action Review (IAAR), Post-event debriefs and summaries, and input to Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS).
- Update and maintain documents, articles, and periodicals such as Joint Operations Insights and Best Practices and joint functional area focus papers.
- Develop and facilitate seminars for the National Defense University's Senior Leader Education Program Joint Operations Modules (PINNACLE, CAPSTONE, and KEYSTONE).
Basic Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of, and experience in, planning and executing Cyber Operations at the operational level.
- Ability to write concisely at an executive level.
- Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus 4 years of experience.
- Joint Forces Staff College or Service equivalent.
- Must be willing to travel worldwide, to include areas considered hazardous duty.
- Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
- S. Citizen with an active Secret level security clearance, upgradeable to Top Secret. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Division, Afloat staff, or Wing staff experience.
- Understanding of the requirements for staffs to support the commander's decision cycle.
- Understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP).
- Experience with the preparation and conduct of seminars or study groups for flag officers.
- Ability to write and prepare operational orders and plans.
- Experience in the compilation and presentation in both written and oral formats of lessons learned and after-action review material.
- Experience with operational planning efforts at the operational and strategic levels.
