The Role:

As an Analytical Laboratory Technician, you will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances, conduct tests and report findings to a laboratory manager. You will optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to make a difference in the products we produce. The ideal candidate will have experience working with possibly hazardous chemicals, will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

This position is on the 1st shift (Saturday-Wednesday, 7am-3pm or Saturday-Tuesday, 7am-5pm).

In this role you will:
  • Receive, label and analyze samples
  • Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods
  • Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are strictly followed and maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Support laboratory staff by maintaining glassware, logs, and record books; troubleshoot and resolve problems and help with special projects
  • Keep laboratory supplies ready by maintaining inventory of stock, placing orders and verifying receipt
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
  • Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps
  • Complete projects by assisting project team and attending and participating in group and project meetings
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Enhance laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
  • An Associates Degree in a relevant field of study preferred, with previous experience handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Prior experience in a Lab Technician or similar position
  • Experience operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, corrosives, and toxic compounds)
  • In depth knowledge of quality systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices
  • Knowledge of laboratory sciences/operation and chemistry a plus
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work well independently while possessing good teamworking skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50lbs; and work on your feet for 7 hours a day
  • Mechanical aptitude, dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
