Job Description:
This job assists anesthesia providers in the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and equipment required for the safe administration of anesthesia. Assists with the supervision and management of the Anesthesia Associates, and complies with the guidelines of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with staff and provide instruction and guidance.
  • Self-directed and skills to work with little supervision.
  • Skills to exercise good judgment in handling difficult situations.
  • Skills to exercise good organizational time management skills.
  • General knowledge and skill to modify and adapt the anesthesia associates work schedule to needs of the operating room.
  • Skills to assist in the fair and objective evaluation of the anesthesia associates.
  • Skills to function calmly in a pressure situation.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, on call availability).
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
Job Duties
  • Performs direct patient care duties.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment in patient care and support areas.
  • Exhibits effective judgment and decision-making.
  • Performs indirect patient care duties.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills and ability to coordinate operations.
  • Exhibits competencies in care and services provided to patients/customers in specific relation to their age and developmental stage, with supervision of staff.
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
  • Adapts to change in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
