SPECIFIC STATEMENT OF JOB
This position assists staff and volunteers in advocating for animals at the shelter, and in processing adoptions.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Note: The list below is not comprehensive; this job is also responsible for other duties as assigned.
1. Adoption Assistance - This position works personally with visitors in helping them find a suitable new pet. The incumbent provides information on the animals, and educates the citizens on the breed and the specific animals of interest to facilitate the best possible match.
2. Administrative Duties - This position ensures that all adoption files are complete and accurate. The incumbent may need to telephone and/or email adopters until the adoption is completed.
3. Custodial Assistance - This position assists in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for lobby cats. The cages must be cleaned daily, with fresh litter, towels, linens, food and water, and toys. Cleaning the cages often involves some play time with the kittens, which aids in the adoption process.
4. PetSmart Assistance Program - This position assists the Director in managing the preparation and transport of cats to PetSmart for adoption. All cats must be personally delivered, usually after normal working hours, and set up in their new cages at the store. Any cats that are ill are picked up and taken back to the shelter for care. Documentation must be completed prior to transferring cats to the store for adoption.
This position works under supervision. Work is clearly defined by County guidelines and procedures.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma
Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: 1 year working in a veterinary clinic or shelter
