Job Summary
Supervises daily cage wash and animal husbandry activities ensuring 100% adequate and appropriate coverage for all operations. Assists Facility Operations Manager in interviewing process, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc. Reviews and recommends changes to policy and procedures to ensure that DLAR and investigator's staff adhere to all UK, local, state, and/or federal rules and regulations and that all actions are completed by strictly and consistently following applicable DLAR SOPs including safety procedures and guidelines. Ensures accurate and timely creation and maintenance and storage of all associated documents and records regarding training, environmental parameters, animal health monitoring, equipment maintenance, quality control, etc. Oversees and manages procurement and proper storage of husbandry supplies. Provides, on a rotational basis, holiday, after-hour and weekend coverage for husbandry related issues.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes Preferred Education/Experience
BA/BS in a relevant field (Animal Sciences, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Zoology, etc. or its equivalent); minimum of 6 years animal husbandry (laboratory animal husbandry preferred) or equivalent animal related experience directly related to the care, use, handling and treatment of animals in a paid position (i.e, work in pet stores, veterinary clinics, farm or ranch); AALAS certified LATg Driver's license preferred.
