Animal Operations Support Technician
Daily:
Round on all animals. Be sure to check sheet hanging on all doors for any medical alerts from husbandry animal care takers.Ensure that all medical charts are filled out completely and correctly Perform enrichment for all animalsPerform physical exams on animals the day after they are received and e-mail with any concernsPerform medical treatments not related to the study and document in chartFeed dogs their extra rationsWeekly:
Weigh Beale rabbits, Kapur pigs, dogs once off study, once weeklyCheck and trim nails if needed of Beale rabbits once, weekly and document in medical chartFill out enrichment forms for the following weekIf going to be out, fill out enrichment forms for the next two weeksCheck expiration dates of drugs/materials in carts in ORs and LA procedure rooms. Move expired drugs/materials to Acute Only bins and replace. Write on order white board on storeroom door with items that need re-order.Check stock of stickers (Physical exam, drug, sedation) and documents (medical record, weight sheet, exercise). Help with surgical studies when needed, including recovering survival animalsOR set up. Check with study coordinator with what they needMay assist with cleaning and autoclaving instruments for surgical studies – supporting PS tech, OK for AC tech to learn and helpSharps bin replacement and trash during OR studiesOn Friday's return scrubs and replenish scrubs (Friday only), towels, blue towels as neededBrush dog's teeth (if not on study) M, W, F – document in medical recordRefill PPE by ORs (waterproof show covers, gowns, gloves, etc)Exchange Clidox bottles – when expired leave on dirty rack night before. Husbandry will leave in Z3 office the next morning, distribute to respective rooms.
